Inspirations: Street Art

On my recent trip to L.A. I got a chance to check out the Carmichael Gallery (www.carmichaelgallery.com). Besides the stimulating and thought provoking works in their "After the Rain" exhibit, they also have some interesting books on street art. One of them had a quote from a professor about how anything that goes on public display that doesn't promote buying and selling is, by nature, subversive. That's what I like about street art - it's out there for everyone to see (often unexpectedly) and it provides an opportunity for awareness of a world beyond consumerism and materialism.
